Abstract

In recent times, the need to include integrated, communicative activities rather than isolated activities has become more and more obvious in foreign language teaching and testing. Integrated tasks are complex, embedded in an authentic context and help students to develop all communicative skills at the same time. Therefore, they meet all requirements of authentic, communicative tasks. This paper presents the development of integrated tasks for teaching and testing at the University of Bonn’s Centre for Language Learning (SLZ) against the backdrop of foreign language principles. Initially developed due to the special remote learning conditions during the pandemic, these integrated tasks have turned out an efficient and useful resource for students in language learning and testing contexts in the long run.
